The New York West Olympic Development Program will initiate its 2021/22 training program for players in the 19U age group (players born in 2003 and 2004) beginning in December of 2021. Traditional ODP at the state and regional level tops out at the 17U age group nationwide. NYW has independently made the decision to continue to offer a 19U training program to serve the serious and committed player looking for high level training to supplement their club and/or high school training. The program is open to all age eligible players and will provide competitive training for players who have an eye toward playing soccer in college. We are seeking players with a strong desire for self-improvement and players who are looking for the edge in training that will help them move up in the player pecking order.
Training sessions will focus on technical training, small sided games and the accompanying attacking and defending tactical implications. There will also be scrimmaging in larger numbers with attention paid to larger scale tactics. The training sessions will be competitive and demanding with a specific emphasis on holding players to the high standard needed IN TRAINING that produces high level execution IN GAMES (a notion they will become very familiar with in a college soccer training environment). Similar to the program structure in 2019 (pre-COVID), we will look to return to scheduling outdoor spring “friendlies” against local college teams to help our program’s players acclimate to the collegiate game.
What are you doing to raise your game so you can play at the next level? The 19U NYW ODP Training Program will provide you with the needed high level training, directed by certified coaches (A and B Licenses), that will propel you toward the improvement you are looking for.
