Chevy Exits the Soccer World

After seven years of partnership with soccer, Chevrolet has made a major change in its marketing vision. At the end of this year, Chevrolet will no longer be a sponsor in the sport of soccer. Its sponsorship had included the US Soccer Federation, US Youth Soccer and all 55 state youth soccer associations as well as soccer spin off partners Eurosport and adidas. The absence of Chevrolet will be felt across the fields, as Chevy has been a long-time partner of our fine sport.
Phil Caruso, Chevrolets Promotions Manager, had this to say about the long-term relationship, Since 1996, we have created a mutually beneficial relationship with our soccer partners that has met our previous business objectives.  While soccer is no longer a part of Chevrolets future marketing plan, we have appreciated and valued the loyal support from our marketing partners and their members over the years.  Chevrolet would also like to wish these organizations the best of luck in their future endeavors as they continue to grow the sport of soccer.
Chevrolet leaves behind a positive legacy of monumental support of soccer.  Over the past seven years, Chevy contributed funds and vehicles to the state youth soccer associations. Each association was granted the use of a new Chevrolet vehicle to transport the office staff and coaching staff to tournaments, ODP camps and clinics, meetings and other soccer events. Over the past five years, Chevrolet donated $50,000 to the TOPSoccer program through individual state associations. Its sponsorship included title sponsorship of the Chevy Cups, which encompassed soccer at different levels of play and often included Chevys interactive soccer festival on display. Recognizing the soccer parents who are always there for their children and the community was a strong focus for Chevy, which sponsored the Chevy Soccer Parent of the Year award at the state level. In all, Chevrolet embraced every level of soccer with its partnership.
Parents, recreational and competitive players, coaches, administrators and soccer fans have all seen the Chevrolet bowtie at games, events, in soccer publications and on Web sites. Chevrolet will be missed in the soccer community and the state youth soccer associations wish to thank Chevrolet for their partnership and support.
