Indoor training for the NYW U12 Olympic Development Program will begin in December of 2013. The U12 program is for both boys and girls born in 2002 and 2003 and will be run in four locations: Binghamton, Syracuse, Rochester and Buffalo.
The U-12 program cycle includes five training dates, each of which consists of a 75 minute indoor training session and a 30 minute lecture. Training sessions will focus primarily on improving each player’s technical ability and tactical awareness via small sided games and activities. Lectures will cover topics such as proper training habits, age appropriate tactics, team building and group dynamics/problem solving/socialization activities.
Each district program will be under the direction of NYW ODP staff coaches. The program will conclude with an outdoor event on Sunday, April 27, 2014 in Batavia, NY where all four district programs will assemble and participate in a round-robin “Play Day.” This event will be run side by side with the older ODP age groups that will also be in Batavia at that time for their traditional ODP Development Weekend.
