January 2012 - Lansing Soccer Club Winter Recreation Program

The Lansing Soccer Club (LSC) was established in 2001 and is a member of the Broome County Soccer Association (BCSA) and the New York State West Youth Soccer Association (NYSWYSA).

The purpose of the club is to promote the game of soccer through the establishment of organized team play. While it was established to promote Competitive Travel teams, the Lansing Soccer Club has an on going relationship with the Lansing Soccer Board which oversees the Lansing Recreation Department Recreation Soccer Program.

The Lansing Recreation Program has an outstanding fall program serving hundreds of youth soccer players in the greater Ithaca, NY area.  Mark Emley, President,  formed awinter recreation indoor program with over 80 athletes.

I had a chance to visit Mark and his volunteer coaches at " The Field" ( Ithaca, NY) . The program provides 30 minutes of  technical sessions with 30 minute of small sided games. Mark and his volunteers take the time to develop players with activities that promote strong first touches on the ball. Recently Mark applied for grant money through NYSW and  successfully obtain funds to purchase Pug goals, balls, cones and pinnies from SCORE sports.  Great job to Mark Emley and  the Lansing Soccer Club.  -- Chris Pacilio, NYSW Recreation Director.
