Nominations for Awards & Induction into the Hall of Fame
Plan NOW to get your Nominations in on time!

Nominate your coaches and volunteers.

Each year the NYSWYSA awards deserving coaches and volunteers selected from those nominated by its membership for their contribution to youth soccer. Awards presentations and Hall of Fame inductions will be made at the NYSWYSA Awards Dinner to be held at 7:30 p.m. on Sat., Nov. 17 at the RIT Inn & Conference Center in Rochester.

Awards

Awards will be made to the Girls' and Boys' Travel Coach of the Year, Girls' and Boys' Recreational Coach of the Year, and Volunteers of the Year. Additionally this year, special awards will be given for "Goal of the Year" and "Save of the Year."

Winners of the Boys' and Girls' Recreational and Travel Coach of the Year will be submitted to Region 1 for consideration at the regional and national levels.  NYSW winners of these awards have accomplished considerable national recognition.  In 2002, NYSW Coach of the Year Dan Schoniker was invited to Atlanta, Ga., as the Region 1 Coach of the Year, and went on to be named the U.S. Youth Soccer Girls' Coach of the Year.  In 2003, NYSW Coach of the Year Chris Apple was invited to Indianapolis and honored as the Region 1 Coach of the Year, and in 2005, NYSW Coach of the Year Mark Gorgos was invited to Salt Lake City to be honored as Region 1 Coach of the Year. In 2006, Dick Beal, NYSW Coach of the Year, was recognized as the Region 1 Coach of the Year, and as such was invited to Houston, Texas.  There, Dick went on to be named as the U.S. Youth Soccer Boys Coach of the Year.  Who will it be this year?

The National Coach of the Year Dinner is held in various cities each winter in conjunction with the adidas U.S. Youth Soccer Coaches Workshop and Convention. This year's Coach of the Year Dinner will be held in Pittsburgh, Penn., on Feb. 9, 2008.
