New York West teams brought home plenty of hardware from July’s U.S. Youth Soccer Region 1 Championships in Portland, Maine, sweeping the boys’ and girls’ U12 crowns and winning the U13 Boys’ Fair Play Award!

Stadium seating was full at Portland’s Bowdoin College as the Rochester Jr. Rhinos boys and Syracuse FC girls rolled to respective 2-1 and 5-0 championship-game victories. Following the tournament, Buffalo United’s U13 boys, coached by David Coulter, were honored with the prestigious Fair Play Award.

The competition saw 444 games played, with a total of 1,689 goals scored. Champions in the Under-14 through Under-19 age groups earned berths at the U.S. Youth Soccer National Championships in Frisco, Texas, a suburb of Dallas, July 24-29.

Congratulations to all three teams! You have worked hard and made all of New York West proud.
